Bliss & Enriched: Two Poems About Finding Peace in Hard Places

Updated: Aug 3

Two very different moods in this one. Bliss is soft and warm — about the small things that make life actually worth living. Enriched is fiercer. It's about what happens when people try to bring you down and you rise anyway.

Both feel true. Both feel necessary.

BLISS

Bliss is a perfect view,

A painted sky in every hue.

But I think it's more than a fleeting sight —

It's the quiet warmth that feels just right.

It's the first sip of cocoa on a chilly night,

Or watching rain drop in soft moonlight.

It's dancing alone, with no one to see,

Just music, the moment, and simply me, being me.

Bliss is the warm hug that mends a bad day,

The words unspoken, yet they find their way.

It's the smile of a friend who knows my soul,

These little things that make me feel whole.

It's lying in bed, with a book in hand,

Traveling worlds you can't quite understand.

It's the freedom to dream, to wish, to roam,

And finding your heart always leads you home.

Bliss isn't perfect, it's not always loud,

It's not in applause or a cheering crowd.

It's in being yourself, in the here and now,

In knowing your worth without asking how.

ENRICHED

They tried to break me with words like stones,

Their laughter echoed, sharp and cold.

But every scar they left behind,

Carved strength and courage in my mind.

They called me names to watch me fall,

But I learned to rise above it all.

For every cruel and careless jeer,

I found a truth that brought me near.

Enriched is knowing their words don't define,

The light that lives in this heart of mine.

It's kindness I give when hatred calls,

Standing steady when darkness falls.

I see their pain behind the mask,

A burden they bear they'll never ask.

But I won't shrink, I won't retreat —

My spirit remains, unbowed, complete.

True richness is knowing I'm more than their view,

A life full of love, both fierce and true.

With each step forward, I claim my worth —

A heart enriched, a soul rebirthed.
