Daughters of India Season 3 starting on the 15th of August, 2021
Daughters of India is a tribute to “INVISIBLE” women of India.
Throughout the course of time, women's achievements have been undervalued and underestimated. With the goal of celebrating and appreciating the role of Indian women in building our society young girls and boys have come together to honour their legacy!
Even today we are watching #OurDaughters weave magic at the Olympics, but will they be remembered post the event?
Anaya Deshmukh, 9yo, studying at Dhirubhai Ambani International School (Mumbai) has decided to change that. Her mission with “Daughters of India”, a weekly series of short videos, is to highlight Indian women from the past and the present who have achieved great feats and who are shooting for the stars.
Through the stories, made by children, for the children, Anaya touches upon various aspects ranging from discrimination, gender inequality, social norms, stereotypes and even violence. She focuses on the lessons each of these inspirational women have taught us like hard work, perseverance, discipline and courage.
Daughters of India is a platform where children can come together to present the stories of incredible women; our neighbours, teachers, friends, parents and grandparents.
Anaya believes that it is through stories that we define our identity, express our history and culture, learn and engage in all aspects of society. Stories are not only the first medium for communication, education and social integration, but are also at the heart of each person’s unique identity, cultural history and memory.
With her voice and the stories that she and her friends will narrate, Anaya hopes she can spark the imagination of children just like them to break the stereotypes and forge a new path in the future.
